Caregiving

At The Selah Collective, we understand caregiving as any role in which we offer care, support, or guidance to another person or community. Whether you are an educator, healthcare professional, therapist, parent, family caregiver, or community leader, caregiving is meaningful work that asks much of us.

While every caregiving role is unique, many share common experiences. Compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, burnout, and emotional exhaustion are not signs of failure, they are often natural responses to continually tending to the needs of others in often under resourced systems.

Caregiving can also become a mirror, revealing the ways we have, or have not, been cared for ourselves. It may surface old wounds, unmet needs, or grief that has quietly lived beneath the responsibilities we carry. In this way, caregiving and grief are often deeply intertwined.

The work of caregiving matters. So does the wellbeing of the caregiver. We believe that those who care for others deserve spaces where they, too, can be witnessed, supported, and restored.
